The philosopher Michel Foucault explored and elaborated on something I've been drawn to for years. Heterotopia is the idea of spaces of "otherness". It in the moment you see yourself in the mirror or the space of a phone call. These things that live in the middle are not here or there. They are only loosely seated in time and can just as easily be tomorrow or yesterday. This series is made up of complex moments. Intimacy in public, mundane seen as magical, forbidden made for granted. The inability to definitively place where any of the photos were taken lends them the ability to receive meaning projected on to them. Their surreality and dreamlike appearance allow you to have a new experience with parts of life that are already familiar.
